Barn Journal We will be updating this journal as time permits. 9-29-07 General barn maintenance. Some mowing and cleanup. Prep for tomorrows work. (New pasture across the street). Lori,Eric, and Leon came from Charlotte. We saddled up 6 horses so everyone could ride. We rode the pasture line and back (About 1 hour). It was an excellent ride. Back at the barn we had burgers and brats (compliments of Eric and Lori). 10-07-07 General Barn Maintenance. Some cleanup. Finished the siding on the front of the barn. See the photo gallery for the before and after pics. We rode some today. April King, Lanny King, Justin, and friends were there to ride as well. We took short rides around the pasture today. Teressa rode for the first time.See todays photos. 10-20-07 Busy day today. We decided to buy a Paso Fino that we had been looking at for some time. Ambiciuoso Del Carousel. This horse was one of the Rancho Carousel stock. We went and picked him up, and he was very nice. After bringing him back to the barn and allowing him time to acclimate himself, it was saddle time. He is very quiet and solid. He accepted a bit and saddle very well. Sharon and April rode him, then Charlotte took him for a spin as well. He rides as good as he looks. We will be adding more photos soon. The most exciting part of the day tho, was Valentino. We had saddled him and Sharon decided to take him for a ride. He did Excellent! No spook, no explosions, no excitement, just a calm quiet ride. Although short, the ride really made our day. 10-27-07 Another Busy weekend. We purchased another Paso, A Gelding named Ambicuioso de Carousel. This one originally came from Rancho Carousel, in Sharon SC. He is a very nice solid black gelding. He was the excitement of the weekend. Other work included building a new stall for Ambi (Sharon calls him Ambi-doodle). Will put new photos up soon. Valentino was riden again. He has developed this problem of not wanting to bit. We worked on that issie somewhat, and after several times, he is more accepting now. Sharon says he has a very nice ride. 12-09-07 Well it's been a while since we have updated the journal. Since Adding Ambi, we haven't had much time to do much of anything. A lot of our time has been tied up with Valentino, he is doing great!!! Today was his first actual trail ride. Yesterday (12-08-07) we bought another non-registered Paso fino "Elvisio" or Elvis for short. He will do well with some ground work. It appears that the previous owners forgot the ground work during the training process. He rides, but has absolutely no ground manners. Nothing we can't fix. We also bought a 18 month old Mule. We call him Number 7 (from Festis Hagan of Gunsmoke fame). He is a sight, and completely different than the horses we are used to handling. We will be training him to ride soon. Check the New Arrivals page in the photo galleries for some pics of Elvisio and Number 7. Announcements |
